Why our extracts cost more, and what you get for it.

Not all kava extracts are made the same way. The method decides what survives the process, and most methods are chosen for yield. Ours is not.

The chemistry

Kavalactones are fat-soluble. That one fact decides everything downstream.

Kava's active compounds are carried best alongside the plant's own oils and lipids, which is how kava has been prepared traditionally: root and water, nothing stripped out. Most modern extraction does not preserve that.

CO2 extraction

Highly selective. It isolates certain kavalactones and leaves others behind, so the result can look complete on a certificate and still feel thin: typically weighted toward dihydrokavain and kavain rather than the plant's full profile.

Our hybrid rosin process

Water plus heat and pressure, no solvent. Built to keep the full-spectrum kavalactone profile together with the plant's natural oils. We work with fresh plant material wherever we can, which is uncommon here: most producers start from dried, often imported root. When we dry material ourselves we do it to protect the oils, not to hit a schedule.

What we are not

An extract company, not a powder company.

We do not sell bulk kava root or powder. We grow, harvest and extract selected plants, not to maximise yield but to make the best extract we know how to make. That is a craft decision, and it shows up in both the process and the price.

Because we work from fresh, whole-plant material rather than a standardised industrial input, small variations in colour, texture and yield are normal between harvests. We would rather show you an honest small-batch product than flatten those differences out with additives or fillers.

The result

What the method actually buys you.

Full spectrum, in its own oils

The whole kavalactone profile, carried in the lipids it came with rather than isolated away from them.

Concentrated

A small serving goes a long way, which is what makes the per-serving arithmetic below work out the way it does.

Closer to the tradition

Water and pressure, no solvent. A process nearer to how kava has actually been prepared for centuries than to a chemistry-set version of it.

Real cost per serving

It looks premium up front. Do the arithmetic per serving.

A kava bar shell

$8 to $10 for a single 4 oz shell. That is the number worth holding the next two against.

Our rosin

Roughly $0.50 to $1.00 per serving. Between eight and twenty times cheaper than the same occasion at a bar.

Our gummies

Roughly $1.50 to $4.00 per serving, where a serving is about two shells' worth. Still under the bar price, with the dose already measured.

The position

We are not technicians. We are extraction artists.

There are cheaper ways to make an extract. We choose organic, whole-plant sourcing wherever we can, even when it costs more and takes longer. Every batch is small, deliberate, and made to keep the character of the plant intact.

It is also why this page describes what we do rather than naming a competitor or a rival method. We would rather tell you the process and let you decide whether it is worth the price than make the case by comparison.

Judge it by the jar, not the page.

Every jar carries a lot number, and our products are sent to an independent lab for testing.
